The Murder of Sigward_f was the most controversial PvP killing in Xandaris history. On February 23, 2026, vphlIo executed Sigward_f with a Netherite Sword at The Island after accusing him of stealing player heads. The killing — preceded by a four-second countdown and followed by a bitter argument — divided the community and raised questions about justice, proportionality, and who holds power on the server.
Background[edit]
The Alliance[edit]
Sigward_f had been a resident of The Island since approximately February 18. vphlIo was one of The Island's founders and its most powerful player — the first to obtain full Netherite, an Elytra, and to kill the Ender Dragon.
The two had been on cooperative terms. On February 19, vphlIo privately messaged Sigward asking for help with an enderpearl stasis chamber: "Im making An Enderpearl station chamber and id like you to bring me back after I get the head of plucker so I can burn it." Sigward agreed. vphlIo had also outfitted Sigward with full enchanted netherite armor, tools, elytras, and shulkers.
The Head Collection[edit]
vphlIo maintained a collection of player heads — trophies from his kills. In the days before the murder, Sigward had taken heads from this collection without permission. vphlIo later described this as being "robbed two times" and claimed he had given Sigward "20 warnings."
The HOA Tension[edit]
There was also lingering tension over Sigward's builds. His mushroom house had been criticized during an informal "HOA" (Home Owners Association) roleplay on The Island, and samboyd later admitted he "tried to protect him after the HOA incident."
Timeline[edit]
The Confrontation (00:11–00:15)[edit]
At 00:11, vphlIo told samboyd: "wanna see something cool?" He then checked his head collection and discovered heads were missing: "I better see all the heads."
samboyd realized what was happening and intervened:
"dont kill him"— samboyd
Sigward, unaware of the danger, tried to negotiate:
"i just want some head"— Sigward_f
"you have 3 i can have 1"— Sigward_f
The Countdown (00:15:24–00:15:30)[edit]
vphlIo's response was a four-second countdown:
- vphlIo: "4"
- vphlIo: "3"
- vphlIo: "2"
- vphlIo: "1"
At 00:15:30:
"Sigward_f was slain by vphlIo somehow using Netherite Sword"
Sigward_f's head was dropped on death. He disconnected at 00:16:09 — deathbanned from the server.
Aftermath[edit]
samboyd's Reaction[edit]
samboyd's immediate response was silence, then grief:
- ".........."
- "no"
- "leaves..."
When vphlIo claimed the theft justified the kill, samboyd pushed back: "he took a head but i mean — that was overkill." He later added:
"sigwards always been a good basemate i would give him the benefit of the doubt before killing him"— samboyd
"he was borderline innocent"— samboyd
samboyd expressed fear about his own safety: "its just if i live in close proximity to you then a disagreement will cost me my life." He also took personal responsibility:
"i tried to protect him after the HOA incident... i never should have let him come back. no one to blame but myself. his swedish blood is on my hands"— samboyd
Despite his distress, samboyd took no admin action against vphlIo — no ban, no punishment, no rollback.
vphlIo's Justification[edit]
vphlIo showed no remorse. He immediately looted Sigward's ender chest via the DeadEnderChest plugin and delivered a monologue justifying the execution:
"If I like something I care about be taken so easily who would take me serious I couldn't let him ruin my rep and image"— vphlIo
"If you respect me I give you stuff and do whatever I can to help you. you take from me and rob me? Ill ofc kill you"— vphlIo
"This is our island. We can not let disorder run it. We need to make sure there is some type of order"— vphlIo
"If he had asked I wouldve given. But no, he didnt. And he payed for it with his life"— vphlIo
He framed the killing as maintaining order and offered samboyd a chilling philosophy:
"Justice is the hands of the powerful. sometimes people can find that unfair"— vphlIo
Sigward's Defense[edit]
From Discord (now locked out of the game), Sigward argued his case as "mr Sigward":
"dude cant take someone fucking with him a little"— Sigward_f
"u didnt say anything... u did 4 3 2 1"— Sigward_f
"dude can't a used word like a civilized person, just start killing people"— Sigward_f
His final words on the matter:
"its not on you sam, just vhp who gets hurt easily, like a child"— Sigward_f
vphlIo responded with a taunt GIF and the Invincible meme: "I thought you were stronger."
The Philosophical Debate[edit]
The longest exchange was between samboyd and vphlIo. samboyd argued that "we have different standards on what warrants permabanning someone from the server" and called Sigward "borderline innocent."
vphlIo countered: "You view him as a good man because you knew him, but if you didnt know him you'd agree with me."
When vphlIo offered "If you let me ill bring him back..." samboyd declined, saying only: "justice is just a little too swift in those parts."
Community Reactions[edit]
- Dirt1358 (from Discord): Immediately began trash-talking vphlIo, calling him slurs and insults. This would prove fatal — see below.
- Al3xx58: "oh nah"
- samboyd: "add another head to the collection" (sardonic)
The Dirt1358 Killing[edit]
Dirt1358's aggressive Discord messages made him vphlIo's next target. He logged into the server at 01:00 and was killed by tuodjw (vphlIo's ally) within 14 minutes:
"Dirt1358 was slain by tuodjw somehow using Netherite Sword"
vphlIo looted Dirt1358's ender chest even though tuodjw did the killing. When samboyd asked "whatd he do?" and "stole your sweetroll?" (a sardonic Skyrim reference), tuodjw claimed Dirt1358 had escalated a fistfight by pulling a sword.
samboyd's reaction to losing a second player:
"i lost em all"— samboyd
vphlIo corrected him coldly: "you lost one."
vphlIo's final line of the night:
"Deadmen tell no tales"— vphlIo
Aftermath[edit]
After the killings, samboyd and vphlIo had a private conversation. vphlIo asked samboyd directly: "do you plan on ending me?" samboyd said no. vphlIo asked: "Do you find me a bad person? maybe evil?" samboyd again said no.
Despite his grief ("im still mourning my hb"), samboyd chose to maintain his alliance with vphlIo rather than risk a confrontation with the server's most powerful player.
Sigward_f has not returned to the server since the murder. He is no longer in the ban list, but has chosen not to come back.
Legacy[edit]
The murder established vphlIo as the undisputed power on The Island and set a precedent: theft from vphlIo is punishable by death. It also exposed the limits of samboyd's authority as server owner — despite disagreeing with the killing, he took no action to punish vphlIo or protect his friend.
The event is sometimes referred to simply as "the countdown" by those who witnessed it. It was only the beginning of February 23's bloodshed — by the end of the day, 17 players were dead.
